Lottery winner Peter Congdon donates £1 million to Merlin MS Centre in memory of wife

Last Thursday we officially announced the incredible £1million donation from Lottery winner Peter Congdon. This generous donation will allow Merlin to start building a hydrotherapy pool for Cornwall. Everyone at the centre is buzzing with excitement as this will finally allow us to complete the original plans for the centre. Watch this space for more news on the plans and building works to follow. As well as our fundraising efforts to raise the additional £500,000 needed to see the completed facility.

Congratulations  To Sally-Jane Coode

The staff and volunteers at Merlin would like to congratulate Sally-Jane Coode, one of Merlin's trustees, for being awarded a MBE in the Queens birthday honours list. Recognising her for her work with various charities and the community in Cornwall...Well deserved ..We know she does a lot for Cornwall but we are so grateful for all she does for our charity

 Walk Again Appeal

The AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill provides partial weight-bearing pain-free exercise. It can improve balance, gait, stride length and range of motion. It helps reduce falls and gives clients greater confidence in their daily activitie

We have only had this piece of equipment at the centre for a matter of weeks but the response from our clients has been incredible.

Before my stroke, I played sport and had been fit. The treadmill let me run for the first time in five years. It gave me confidence to do things I couldn’t before if the machine stays at Merlin I would be able to build up my strength and retain my muscles. "

David Neal who suffered a stroke in 2014

"It was fantastic to get that feeling of running again- like running on air. I hope to see improvements in my balance as my walking becomes more assured."

Ben Marshall who was diagnosed with MS 12 years ago

We would absolutely love to keep this amazing equipment in Cornwall as we know what a difference it will make to so many lives. However, we desperately need some financial help as the machine costs £35,000.
